Amanda asks Jim to check the fuse box and Amanda brought up the topic of Benjamin Franklin , and thats when Amanda finds out that Tom did not pay the bill and when Jim says that candlelight is his favourite kind of light Amanda says that he is romantic.
Amanda gives Jim a candelabrum and asks him to gives Laura a little wine and tells Tom to get his apron on.
Tom ask Laura to drink the wine the Amanda wanted Jim to give Laura.Jim asks Laura to sit on the floor and gets her to sit closer to him. They starts talking about The Wrigley Building and the Century of Progress and how the future will be like in America. Then Laura mentions about Jim having a beautiful voice when he sang at high school and Jim remembered that he called her Blue Roses because she was ill with pleurosis and it sounded like blue roses before and did not know that she was Tom's sister at high school and they start to talk about their past in high school that Laura was shy and that Jim wrote an operetta that Laura complimented about the beautiful song Jim sang and always wanted Jim to autograph her programme but never had the chance to do so and Jim gave her his autograph which confidence that his signature will rise in value someday. Jim tells Laura that he and Emily was never together and that it was all propaganda and asks Laura what she has been doing in the past six years.Laura tells him that she took a business course at business college and that she dropped out and now she takes cares of her glass collection. Jim tells Laura that she low-rates herself and that he understands it too because he had it too but not as worse as Laura's , until he took up public speaking, developing his voice learning that he had and aptitude for science. He tells Laura that he has a friend that tells him ,he can analyse people better than doctors and judge Laura's trouble , a lack of amount of faith in herself . He tells Laura that he is interested in electro-dynamics and that he took a course in radio engineering at night schooland studying public speaking. Laura tells Jim that her intrest is in glass and she shows him a unicorn that is her favourite one and she places them on a shelf with other horses that do not have horns like the unicorn and she places it on different places from time to time to giv it a change of scenery .
The Wrigley Building
Jim hears some music and ask Laura to dance Waltz with him but Laura does no know how to dance so Tom teaches her the steps and slowly Laura gets better and better and as they dance, they accidently knocks on to the table and the glass unicorn falls and breaks its horns off but Laura sees it as a blessing in disguise so that the unicorn can now fit in with the other horses.
Jim starts sweet talking Laura by complimenting her in a genuine tone and tells her that she was pretty wishing that she was his sister so that he can teach her to have confidence in herself. He starts telling her that blue roses was right for her because she was pretty and told Laura that he was saying it sincerly and tells her that someone should ought to kiss her and he slips his hand on to her shoulder and kisses her on the lips ,dazing Laura. He asks laura if she wants a mint but Laura does'nt seem to respond but she grows brighter. He tells her that if she was his sister , he would do the same thing as Tom, bringing in gentleman callers for her to meet but Tom was wrong to bring him in because he is already engaged with another girl , shocking Laura but she stills gives him her unicorn as a souvenir. Amanda rushes into the room with a pitcher of fruit punch for Jim and Laura to drink. She accidently spills the punch on herself and tells Jim that how outdone she was with Tom for keeping Jim to himself for so long and that she is going to have fun with Jim in the future . Jim tells her that he has got to be going soon and that he wont be coming back beacause of both work and Betty. Amanda was shocked to hear that Jim was engaged and Jim goes off to fetch Betty at the depot. Amanda told Tom that he pulled a good joke on them but Tom has no idea Jim was getting married even though he was his best friend at the warehouse. Tom argues with Amanda and he was so furious that he left home and in the end he descends down the fire-escape for the last time and tells Laura to blow out the candle to show that he wont be back to lit the candles again.

EDITED!!! From the pages of NINI&NANA. aka (Amni&Lyana) Scene five: p28-37.
This scene started off with Amanda asking a favor from Tom which was to comb his hair and put great care in his appearance just like his FATHER. Even though Amanda tries hard to make her son change, Tom only expresses this gesture by going out to smoke. Thus, causing Amanda to be quite furious and started ranting on about what the cost of smoking will amount to in a month. In which the money may be used for a night school course for Tom in Washington D.C.
Soon enough, Tom talks to the audience and expresses his feelings about the Paradise Dance Hall across the alley. He explained that the orchestra played a waltz or a tango that has a slow and sensuous rhythm. Couples would come outside to the relative privacy of the alley and kiss behind ash-pits and telegraph poles. To tom, it was the "compensation for lives like mine, without any change or adventure". I think this means that Tom felt that in his place, no interesting things are happening apart from the same continuous cycle of life, just like his. Unlike the mist suspended over berchtesgaden, or those caught in the folds of chamberlain's umbrella and 'in spain, there was guernica'. Which he uses to emphasize on the absence of exciting things happening. The play resumed when Tom stops talking to the audience and Amanda looks away from the photo of her husband.
After which Amanda joins him on the fire escape and talked about wishing on the 'little silver slipper' of a moon where Tom told Amanda that he could guess what her wish is. And when Amanda replied and asked whether her head was transparent, Tom simply retorted "You're not a sphinx". Her wishes were fulfilled as he had a gentleman caller for Laura. A friendly shipping clerk from Tom's workplace. This caused Amanda to be thrilled. She was sure that Laura would make him fall for her but Tom thought that the people outside their family might find her peculiar as she is handicapped, shy and somewhat too absorbed in her glass menagerie. He pointed out that laura lives "in a world of her own".
As Tom leaves for the movies, Amanda yelled and said she did not believe he really went to the movies. The scene ends with her calling Laura to make a wish on the moon.

*guernica - a painting- yup. i know what you all are thinking.. a painting? guernica? yeah. but look at it CAREFULLY.. it is full of the painter's feelings towards an artist's FREEDOM. *Chamberlain and his umbrella (see the hook on the LEFT HAND OF THE MIDDLE GUY. THAT'S the umbrella. and the guy with the 'swastika' logo is ADOLF HITLER!) Chamberlain's legacy is marked by his policy of appeasement towards Nazi Germany regarding the concession of Czechoslovakia to Adolf Hitler. *berchtesgaden (a place where Hitler's mountain residence was located. The area was also purchased by the Nazis in the 1920s for their senior leaders to enjoy. Berchtesgaden and its environs were fitted to serve as an outpost of the German Reichskanzlei office (Imperial Chancellery) *a sphinx (seen as guardians in the Egyptian statuary)
*fire escape (to escape. from fire. chei. no lah. just kidding. XD its basically a method of escape in the event that a fire happens inside a building where it makes an exit -from the inside- inaccessible)
