Explanation.
- emphasizes on the absence of self-discipline of Jem & Scout.
- refuse to listen to Atticus to just stay inside the house and mind their own business.
- however, it underlines the reason why both of them refuse to stay home
- they were interested in knowing what is actually happening
- give support to their father
- arouse the readers' suspicions as to why Jem allowed Scout to follow him and get inside the Court Room and witness the examination.
- arouse the empathy of the reader's towards Jem as he was very much interested in this battle of justice in which his father was involved in.
- encourage readers to understand the problem that have already been existing which involves both Jem and Scout.
- the already existing problem is the racism that is still evidently seen until then
- the discrimination of Blacks and Whites.
- with Jem and Scout around, it will further intensify the racism in the society as the society will also neglect the Finch family as Atticus is defending a Black-Nigger.

use of negation in pg 219 ...."how could they do it, how could they?"
'I dont know, but they did it.
OK Guys n Gals..lets start my lit lesson, no noise pls..SILENCE! this phrase arouse the readers empathy towards Jem and Atticus. For helping the blacks, tom robinson in his SEX case..wootie !!However not accepted by society despite the help they gave.. So, apparently Atticus n Jem were the right guys, so why were they not accepted and why did they lose the case..simple! The society doesnt accept blacks and hence wouldnt support Atticus in his brave n courageous act to save Tom Robinson from the wrong perpective of the F***ing and racist society.this marks jem's start of maturity also.
