No ,i made him get a page of the Bible every day ,
emphasizes on the absence of education to the blacks
the use of negation here is to show the intention of the writer that society discriminates against the blacks and does not allow the black to study and it also shows that not only the white can learn but also the blacks.
the arouses the suspisions of the reader that the blacks in maycomb is uneducated and that the only way they can study is through the bible.
i dunno if this will help u guys but i hope it will XD

'He never said anything about that,' Jem muttered.
'Never said anything about it, did he?'
'No ma'am.'
The absense of the understanding between Atticus and his children.
The writer uses repeated negation which shows that Atticus never mentions his abilities to his childen at all.
It arouses the reader to wonder what other abilities Atticus have and the reason he didn't let want to let others know, even to Scout and Jem.Sherie

my quote(conversation btwn scout and francis):
'just what i asked for,' he said... a pair of knee-pants, a red leather booksack, five shirts and an untied bow-tie.
'That's nice,' i lied. 'jem and me got air-rifles, and em got a chemistry set-'
'a toy one, i reckon.'
'no, a real one...'
well, this quote basically emphasizes on the absence of the truth.
i think we can obviously see that scout lied because she did not want francis to have a bad impression upon her. saying 'no, a real one' we can tell that she wanted francis to believe she is as pampered or as fortunate as him.
this will then arouse the readers curiosity upon scout because scout is known for her 'ability' or her personality of always talking back to others. which is why it encourages the reader to find out the other side of scout's personality.
this is all i have to say so i hope it makes sense to you people. =)
Negation quote:
(Chapter 11)
'Your father's no better than the niggers and trash he works for!' - Mrs Dubose.
Emphasises on the absense of social equality.
In this quotation, it is clearly stated the impression Mrs Dubose had on Atticus when she mentioned 'no better'. Showcasing her prejudice, she discriminated Atticus by conveying that he deserved to be looked down like the blacks since he tried to defend one.
Arouse the reader's empathy towards Atticus who holds on to his strong sense of convictions and justice.
Encourages the readers to identify the conflict that had been going on in Maycomb County.
Ack, I think I crapped. This is all I got and I aint sure its right.
