GLASS MENAGERIEScene TwoAmanda was dissappointed when she found out that Laura had not be coming to Business College through a teacher with reasons that she was physically ill and suffered from a terrible nervousness. Laura admits that she has been skipping class and explains that she has spent her days walking along the streets in winter, going to the zoo, and occasionally watching movies
Amanda wanted Laura to get married as she thought her prospects of a business career was ruined. Laura confessed that she used to like a boy in her high school, a boy named Jim who sat near her who called her 'Blue Roses' as he misheard the name of the disease Laura suffered when she had to be away from school due to the attack of pleurosis. Laura concluded that he should be married by now. Amanda declares that Laura nonetheless end up married to someone nice. Apologetically, Laura reminded her mother that she's crippled. Amanda insists that her daughter never use that word and tells her that she must cultivate charm.
